The 17th anniversary of 44th Cross RWA was celebrated on January 8. The function commenced with an invocation and was inaugurated by MLA Vijaykumar and Corporator Somshekar. President Shakuntala Shankar Narayan welcomed the gathering and Bhaskar read out the annual report. This was followed by a discussion on the future course of action in 2012, which included upgradation of the existing security system with a hooter on 7th and 9th Main of 44th Cross, along with security camera at various points.
Residents were advised not to give details of their travel plans to daily wagers or to new acquaintances. Speaking on the occasion, resident Indiramma said: "It is a good gathering and social security initiative is a must." Dr Vasudev D said: "This is a new thing and security hooter with mobiles can be adopted."
The meeting was followed by a cultural programme by children who danced to popular Bollywood songs. There were magic show, housie game and raffle. Prizes were given away to winners and also to winners of the sports meet held earlier this month. Lunch was organised for all members' family.
