BBMP High School of Byrasandra celebrated the Annual Day and farewell for outgoing students on December 19. The highlight of the programme was a drama by students on how the blind people are exploited and how to prevent it.
The function was inaugurated by lighting of lamp by Corporator N Nagaraju (ward number 169) who also presided over the function. Head Mistress Sowbhaghya welcomed the gathering and Padma, faculty, presented the annual report. Delivering the Presidential address, Nagaraju announced the institution of prize for cultural and academic achievers. He also has planned to introduce remedial classes. He said, "We have to give equal weightage for sports and academics for the overall development of children. I will arrange free college seats for those students who take an extra interest in academics. I will bear the fees expenses. Lokesh paid a vote of thanks.
N Ashok Narayan Swamy, Education Inspector of BBMP, and Varalakshmi, Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha of Byrasandra ward, were the special invitees. Also present were SDMC (School Development Management Committee) members Kalleshappa, Bhaskar Reddy, Vijayalakshmi and MT Nagaraj, along with teaching and non-teaching staff of the School. Speaking on the occasion, MT Nagaraj said, "The SDMC will bring in experts from Intel company to give computer education and parents should be involved in the academic growth of their child by being part of Parents Teachers Meeting."
The function concluded with cultural programme from students who sand few songs, danced to film numbers and enacted a drama showing exploitation on part of blind people by public. Awareness on civic responsibility was propagated through this.
