On January 13, residents of Bohra Society celebrated Lohri, the Punjabi festival, amid much fanfare. People gathered wooden twigs and lit a bonfire to celebrate the harvesting of winter crops.
On this day, people throw puffed rice, popcorn, jaggery into the fire while singing ‘Aadar aye dilather jaye’ (May honour come and poverty vanish). Newly-wed couples particularly seek blessings from elders on Lohri.
