It was a wonderful treat for the residents of Malleshwaram with the Ananya GML Cultural Academy organizing the Nritya Vaibhava series at Seva Sadan auditorium on January 27.
The entire show had both solo and group performances. Deepa Shivananda, disciple of Guru Kalaimamani Padma Sampath Kumaran, started the show with her recital of an invocation dedicated to the dancing God, Lord Nataraja, followed by a Kriti. she also elaborated the episode of Samudra Mathana, which was well appreciated by all. The main item showcased by her was the 'varnam', where her expressions mesmerized all to the core. Later, Deepa concluded with Thulasidasa 'bhajan' "Thumaka chalata Ramachandra" that expresses Vatsalya rasa through the eyes of mother Kausalya for her toddler  Rama. The second performance of the evening was by the Lasya group, which comprised three well accomplished dancers namely Radhika Ramanujan, Harini Srikanth and Sangeetha Punekar, disciples of Guru Kiran Subramyam and Sandhya Kiran. The trio commenced their performance with the traditional Mallari, which was well choreographed highlighting the different geometrical aspects of Bharatanatyam. This was followed by a krithi on Lord Ganesha, a brisk piece depicting the different forms of the elephant headed God. Alarippu showcasing the nrita expertise of the artistes, kriti on Godess Lalitha was also performed by the trio.
