A confluence of aromas reigned supreme in the parking space of the Nav Pinnac Kanchanganga Society recently on the occasion of the annual food festival organized by the society members.
The festival had everything from Indian to contintental, to snacks and lip-smacking biryanis. On sale also was the winter special hurda, served in a combination of peanut and coconut chutney, jaggery, revdi and gudi sev, made by Savita Bhosale. The much-loved pani puri was prepared and served by Pankaj and Swati Kale, who offered it at an extremely affordable prize Rs. 5 for 5 puris.
Ragda Pattice and Ragda Puri, prepared by Vanita Deshmukh, also teased the chatpata taste buds of the foodies, attracting a huge crowd. Vandana Mandavkar added her touch in the segment of snacks by offering Dahi Wadas. She'd also prepared dry chicken, not to disappoint the non-vegetarians, and cheese cherry pineapple to win the hearts of the western food diehards.
Adding a western touch to the Desi chowpati bites, American Sev Puri, prepared by Meena Naware and Namrata Bhagwat, was a mouth watering delight. The Puneri missal made by Sunanda Raut gave every one a real zhatka, indeed a hot favourite on a cold Pune winter evening. For the ardent non-vegetarians, Usha Ulmekar's preparation of mouthwatering Chicken Dum Biryani, served hot on the plate, and the combo meal of Mutton Curry and Bhakri + Chicken Biriyani made by Kranti Athare, proved to complete packages.
Rosy and Debi Mahapatra presented a quick and a healthy snacker called Egg Chaat. The Chef's special, the Nachos, was another mouth watering delicacy prepared by Chef Bhushan Satav and Devidas. Shubhangi Kulkarni made different types of healthy laddoos along with beetroot wadi and kharvas for desserts.
Diet freaks also relished pieces of cake from Shruti Saraf's kitchen, offering dishes sans maida and sugar, cream but still a yummy low calorie vegan cake along with German Choco Pastry, Eggless Banana Choco chip cake, Pineapple pastry, crunch munch made of corn flakes and Smiley's kids special biscuits. Also on the dessert trail were a variety of homemade mints, choco chips, choco hearts chocolates, along with tiffy pudding prepared by Shraddha Rajwade. The Pendharis put up a gaming stall for the young of the society, which was quite a hit.
