A two-day national level science conference 'Synergy 2012' concluded on February 3 at Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous in Koramangala. Synergy is the association of Physical Science and Life Science Departments of Jyoti Nivas College formed in the year 2010.
This year Synergy 2012 was a National Level Science Conference 'Science for Mankind' to integrate the researchers from various disciplines of Science from different parts of the country on a common platform to share their methodologies and findings with fellow researchers. The conference aimed at encouraging the younger generation to pursue research.
Dr Sr Elizabeth, in her inaugural message, quoted Alexis Carrel stating that we should liberate man from the Cosmos created by the genius of physicists and astronomers, that Cosmos in which he has been imprisoned. Sister also pointed out that tremendous emphasis on scientific and mechanical ways of life is fast reducing man to the status of a machine.
Dr Josephine Chandy, Vice Principal, gave an overview of the conference. She emphasized that behind the success of every technology, there is an unsung hero, the dedicated research scholar.
The conference was given a rousing start with inspiring talks by Chenraj Jain, Chairman of Jain Institutions, and Dr. Thimmappa Hegde, Director, Neuro Sciences, Narayana Hridayala.
Chenraj Jain gave the formula for success. According to him, one should not wait for recognition and should not compare oneself with others. He also stressed the fact that knowing is not important, but application is more important.
Dr Thimmappa Hegde bridged Science with Spirituality and pointed out that each one is extra ordinary -- no one is superior and no one is inferior to any one. He concluded his speech saying that there is something in each one of us which is constantly changing and which is not changing.
The conference was a great success with an overwhelming response received from the participants, paper and poster presenters. Eminent speakers covered several current relevant topics which concern the daily life and future of mankind. Dr Thuppil  Venkatesh, Dr Krishna Murthy, Srikumar Suryanarayan, Dr. N Pradhan, Dr Thilagavathy Daniel, Dr J Sannappa, Madhusudan, Ramachandran Subramanyam, Dr Nanda Rajneesh, Arokia Raj Vincent and Venugopal were a few of the resource persons.
