On the eve of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanad, the Baner branch of Vishwa
Shanti Sangh organized an interschool essay competition for the High Schools in Baner and Aundh.
Seven schools participated in this program, out of which four were English medium schools, namely Sindhu Vidya Bhavan, Vidyanchal High School, D.A.V. Public School and City International School and three of the participants were Marathi medium schools, (Dnyaneshwar Balaji Murkute High School, Ahilyadevi Holkar High School and Swami Vivekanad High School). The topic of this essay competition was 'The relevance of Swami Vivekananda's thoughts in today's era.'
81 students participated in this competition, out of which, six winners came up with dazzling write-ups. Amongst the Marathi medium schools, Ranjeet Khiste of Dnyaneshwar Balaji Murkute High School bagged the first prize, while Praneeta Dhage and Shubham Jadhav, both from Swami Viveknand High School, stood runner-up and second runner-up respectively.. Pradnya Mane from Sindhu Vidya Bhavan emerged as the winner of the Marathi schools section, followed by Sagar Jain and Saish Rajyam, student of DAV School, in second and third place respectively.
The prize distribution ceremony was held at Vidyanchal High School. Executive director of Vishwa Shanti Sangh and well known humorist Dr Sanjay Upadhye gave away the prizes.
