The residents of Gokul Horizon in Thakur Village organised a No TV day in their society on January 28. The members of the society comprising 200 flats vowed to switch off their television for a days time and instead decided to spend time together.
“Most of us spend maximum free time by watching television which is not productive always. We thought of organising a no-TV day event when all of us would come together and participate in any performance activity. This would not only keep us engaged during the day, but would also provide us with any opportunity to come together and spend some good time with each other,” says Ajit Pillai, cultural committee member, Gokul Horizon.
The members displayed their talent in singing, dancing, playing musical instrument and enacting. For the younger children, they had organised a drawing competition. Mehndi competition was organised for the women from the society. After the competitions, a dinner was organized for the members. “After the success of our event in the first year, we plan to conduct this event year,” says Pillai.
