The recent notification issued by the Government of Karnataka published in Karnataka gazette appointing Stanley Lazarus, advocate and Notary as Registrar of Marriages, under Christian Marriage Act, 1872, is a boon to the Christian Community.
While welcoming the move, Ravindra Kumar, former president of Tuluverenkulu-Bangalore, and a resident of Koramangala 4th Block, conveyed the gratitude to the Government of Karnataka for promptly appointing him as Registrar of Christian Marriages which will serve the aspirations of the Christian Community so as to fulfil the need of the day.
His appointment as Registrar of Marriages will help all the Christian denominations who are residing in Bangalore City to get the mandated marriage certificate as per law and as decided in the Supreme Court ruling, he added.
Stanley Lazarus is a senior Advocate and Notary Public, hailing from Lazarus family of Koramangala, having his office located at Ulsoor and Koramangala 6th Block. He served as Pastorate Committee Member of St. Andrews Church, Infantry Road, Council Member of CSI Central Diocese, Members of Bishop Cotton Administrative Board, and Bangalore. As a social worker, he served for the poor belongs to the people Below Poverty Line in the capacity of Chairman of Habitat for Humanity, India and NGO. At present he is the Legal Adviser to Guardian Souharada Sahakari Bank Niyamita, Bangalore.
Marriage certificate issued by Registrar of Marriages as provided under Indian Christian Marriage Act 1872 (Central Act XV-1872) is a mandatory certificate for all the Christians of Indian origin to undergo legal formalities.
