Kunal Icon is a landmark society in the Pimple Saudagar area. Every year, the residents of this society celebrate their annual day in grand style on the January 26 coinciding with the Republic day celebrations. This year too, the day started at dawn, with enthusiastic residents of all age groups including senior citizens taking part in a 'micro-marathon' race around the Kunal Icon perimeter. In the midst of the rendition of patriotic songs, the residents gathered to unfurl the national flag with great fanfare and at the hands of an eminent member of the society Maya Saha.
It was then time to sweat and toil at the athletics venue. Kids of all age groups contested, with their parents enthusiastically cheering them on. Ladies too contested in large numbers for events such as throw ball and lemon and spoon race. As is the norm every year, the Club House drawing competition was a huge attraction. Soon followed a cultural programme where kids from the complex showcased their musical talents. Finally the evening lit up with classical songs and old melodies from an orchestra troupe.
