The residents of Sector 49 were surprised and relieved when Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) administrator Dr Praveen Kumar made a surprise visit at 5 am. Dr Praveen with his staff inspected the area and took instant decisions.
Vinay Mitra, secretary, Progressive Forum Gurgaon said, "We were surprised to see HUDA administrator in early morning. But soon we realised that he was here for not his morning stroll but to look into the pathetic condition of the area. He ordered immediate removal of all encroachments from the roads."
HUDA officials made note of properties, which had encroached the government land and given it on rent to various shanties, hawkers and parking mafia. Police was asked to take immediate action against such property builders and remove illegal parking being operated by some people.
He also promised residents to make water harvesting pits in the area to make use of the rainwater and said that action would be initiated against builders who were releasing sewer water on roads.
A senior citizen Ved Kumar Yadav said, "The visit of Dr Kumar's to our area was the best new year gift that residents could have asked for. His swift and decisive actions on the ground have restored residents' faith in HUDA."
