The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) along with Naata Foundation organised a tree plantation drive at Unit number 5, Aarey Colony, Goregaon east.
Sunil Prabhu, city mayor planted trees along with students of Goregaon based schools and colleges. Students of Gokuldham High School and Junior College, Harsh High School and Goenka Education Trust actively participated in the planting trees.
BMC had recently announced that they will plant one lakh trees in the city by holding tree plantation drives.
"In a city like Mumbai, a large amount of carbon dioxide is released due to growing industrialisation. Thus pollution level is on rise. Planting trees at such times helps reducing the pollution level as they absorb carbon dioxide," says Prabhu.
