14 borewells being sunk

The long-standing demands of the residents have finally been fulfilled with 14 borewells being sunk in the areas coming under Ward No. 27. The summer season is soon going to start, which means the water problem is going to intensify. But then, residents staying in Banaswadi can heave a sigh of relief as the borewells have already been dug in a few areas and if all goes well they will start working soon.
Corporator, Ward No. 27, A. Kodanda Reddy, said: "About 14 borewells have been dug in Shamanna Layout near Srinidhi Hotel, PNS Layout, Kullappa Circle, Makuntamma Layout, Om Shakti Temple area, among others. Since it is going to be very hot from April and people will need more water, we took the decision to sink borewells."
On hearing the new developmental activity, Manju, a resident of OMBR Layout, expressed happiness and said: "It is a good move being undertaken in our ward but then only after it starts working can we comment if the water problem will really subside. Also, these days water crisis is everywhere and in spite of borewells, residents are facing water shortage."
The work is almost on complete. According to some sources, almost 75 per cent of the work has been done. A sum of Rs 5 lakh is invested on each borewell.
