Commuters fed up of enduring unending traffic jams on Aundh Ravet Rasta will have smooth transportation soon.Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has begun the road widening work here recently, with a target to complete it within four months. According to a press release by PCMC's Public Relations Department, Ashish Sharma, Commissioner, PCMC, has been granted the permission from the Defence department to commence the road widening work for a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor here.
Sharma said, "We have observed regular instances of traffic jams on the road. Once the work is complete, the stretch will be thrown open for commuters and residents," adding, "The road has always been plagued by traffic congestion during peak hours. Commuters heading here from Pimpri-Chinchwad and Wakad frequently get stuck here. I feel the move will benefit bikers in particular."
Commenting on the development, Gopal Kumar, a bike rider, said, "The wide road will now help us avoid traffic jams in the evening. We expect some relief now that road widening has been initiated." Bus passengers are hopeful that the BRT corridor will be utilized only by buses. Prahlad Jadhav, a senior citizen who commutes by PMPML buses, said, "The traffic jams always prevent us from reaching our destination on time. With the introduction of the BRT corridor, we hope to experience smooth traffic flow."
