The efforts made by Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) to de-silt the choked manhole at Sector 16 market proved a flop-show. The manhole in front of Ashoka Restaurant has again started overflowing much to the ire of shopkeepers and customers visiting the market.
President of Sector 16 Resident Welfare Society (Regd.) PC Jain and senior citizen RK Gupta complained to the commissioner MCF Dr D Suresh regarding the same. “The cleanliness had its effect for not more than 24 hours. The drain water has again got stagnant in the same area and its stinking odour has been affecting shopkeepers’ business” said Jain.
Though the super-sucker machine was incurred to clean the manhole one week back and it did the same but a day after that the situation became as it was earlier. The reason either is unscientific cleanliness done by MCF safai karacharis or the irresponsible shopkeepers who continued to throw the waste of their shops in adjacent drains.
“We request the municipal authorities to keep a vigil over litterbugs and challan these people for dumping their shop’s garbage into the sewer resulting into drain water clogging. They should be punished with hefty penalty with imprisonment” said RK Gupta.
