With focussed dreams and amazing talent, the journey of dance for Jyotsna Ramesh was a trip of destiny with maximum support from the parents.
Bubbling with energy and charm, dancing is like bliss for the Ninth Standard kid, Jyotsna Ramesh, who has till now performed at various venues across the country. Having started her journey of dance from the tender age of three, she has since mesmerized everyone with her wonderful performances.
Giving entire credit to her gurus, her parents claim that whatever has happened was due to the destiny. Being born as an "army kid", her father's earlier profession was one of the main reasons which made her travel to different places and thereby get acquainted with the wonderful art of dance. Though she was able to learn dance from different gurus, the spark which triggered the talent in her was the tenure in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
"We were really very lucky to have such wonderful gurus at different points of time. But the actual credit goes to
the dance teacher at the Army Public School, Thiruvananthapuram, Sandhya Suresh, who found the talent in her. Though the teacher was in the school only for a span of three months, it developed Jyotsna's interest and later she joined her dance school as well. From then, she picked up very fast and later in Chennai, under the guidance of Radhika Shurajit, she was able to blossom her skills to the maximum. It is the support from the gurus and the school teachers which is helping a lot in nourishing her talent," said Jyotsna's mother with pride.
Having proved her talent, corporate events came calling in for this amazing talent. With memorable performances at each venue, Jyotsna was able to establish herself in Chennai. She became the winner of Thaka Dimi Tha-Children's Day Special and Chellame Chellam, a children's game show, on Jaya TV. She also secured the 'Natya Bala Brahmam' award for 2005 and won sub-junior dance competitions and Milo School Champion 2004.
After coming to Bangalore, she continued her love and stretched it to other forms like Kathak, apart from Bharathanatyam. Giving solo and group performances for her academy Abhinava dance company, Jyotsna has completely focussed her time for dance, brushing away all her other interests. "I just love dancing and the feeling it gives cannot be explained. It transforms our personality and whatever I am today is mainly due to dance. I used to do horse riding but later stopped it as I wanted to focus more on dance. As of now, I would surely continue dancing forever," said Jyotsna Ramesh, who wants to be a fashion designer in future. Not just in dancing, she also has an equal interest in singing and has been pursuing it along with dance, from the age of three. Reading, swimming, painting and writing poems are the other interests which make Jyotsna happy.
Apart from dance performances, she has anchored many shows and acted in few tele-films and productions too. "Beautiful Hands", a fundraising tele-film for the victims of tsunami by Usha Rajeshwari; "Chandrikaiyin Kadhai", a tele-film by Janaki Vishwanath are among the major ones in the list.
In 2011, Jyotsna received the 'Bal Shree' award for 2010 for creative performance and was recognized with the Pogo Amazing Kids Dancer award for 2011. She also secured second prize in the 44th All Indian competition in music and dance of Navya Nataka Samiti in Hyderabad. With accolades pouring in, there is no stopping for this wonder kid as she spreads her charm all across with her amazing talent.
