The dark back lane at Sector 23 has become an unsafe place for pedestrians. There are poles but no lights for a long time. Residents demand proper lighting.
Diwan Singh, a resident of Prabha Apartments, said, "The lane is behind societies such as Shaman CGHS, Sheetal Vihar CGHS, Prabha CGHS and the mall of Sector 23. People often use the lane to go to parks and the main road."
"Back lanes are frequently used by the morning and evening walkers as there are parks in both the sides. Two weekly markets are held in the area and we feel very unsafe while going or returning from the market."
Residents say due to negligence, fittings and electrical equipments are being stolen.
DDA superintending engineer PK Bhandari said, "An estimate has been sent for the approval of electricity infrastructure. After getting clearance, further works would be carried out."
