Believe it or not, but an illegal dhaba is operating adjoining a main garbage ‘dhalao’ at J-Block market in Saket, a few meters away from the MCD Zonal office.

The dhabha, in existence for years becomes a haven for drunkards who openly consume liquor in the area, creating nuisance. The residents also feel that the cops are hand in glove with the dhaba owner. The visitors to the market especially girls and women thus become victims of eve-teasing. Moreover, in the close proximity of the dhaba lie two schools; Amity School and a government school.
J-Block RWA has complained to the MCD many times but to no avail. When Cityplus, approached the Municipal Councillor of Saket, M Nagrajan he said, "The Dhaba owner has a tehbazari with him so they can't remove him."
When Cityplus, approached and spoke to the owner of the Dhaba, he refused to give his name but said he has made everybody happy from police to MCD therefore he has nothing to worry.
A senior citizen and resident of M Block Saket, Ved Kumar said, "I have personally written to the MCD and the police to remove the dhaba from the garbage bin but no action has taken place till date. I don't know how people sit there and eat and drink when that place stinks badly. This place is totally not ideal to have an eating joint because it is totally unhygienic."
There are more than 100 such dhabas existing in south Delhi and police, health department and MCD are all hand in glove with the owners. This is a big illegal business building up in South Delhi and needs a special attention by senior officials soon. Or else the heart of Delhi, the south Delhi will be full of such illegal eating joints.
Dr SK Bhalla, deputy health offer, south zone said, “Most of dhabas on the road side are running because they have tehbazari with them. We certainly do sanitation check-ups time to time. Regarding this particular dhaba, I will ask the official to find out how is it running in a garbage bin.”

"I have personally written to the MCD and the police to remove the dhaba from the garbage bin but no action has taken place till date.
