
Meet nine year old national level golfer Harshjeet Singh, an otherwise chirpy kid, this player is very serious when it comes to his passion, Golf.
Ranked third in the order of merit of Indian Golf Union in age category 'D' for below 11, Harshjeet started playing golf when he was four years old.
"After I started playing golf, I have never looked back. The different courses, be it nine holes course or the 18 holes course, have always attracted me. I like both match play and stroke play," he explains.
A student of Naval Children School, Harshjeet is being coached at DLF Academy. "I regularly play in Army golf course and I am grateful to my coach Anitya Chand. He has taught me many strokes and basic skills to
perform in course," said Harshjeet.
At such a tender age, his achievements are very impressive. Winning international Albatross at the age of 7 and national level tournament at the age of 8 paved ways for his future success. "Winning Tamil Nadu Juniors Gold Tournament and True vision International Tournament in Thailand were the one the best moments for me. Apart from that I also secured runners-up position in Northern India Junior Golf Tournament," adds Harshjeet.
Golf is Harshjeet's first love and he wants to become an international champion in the sport. He dedicatedly practices two-three hours every day and balances his studies quite efficiently. "Routine of everything makes it easier to learn," Harshjeet says.
Talking about his wins he excitedly says, "Winning the title of Albatross player of the year for 2009-2010 was the happiest moment for me. I was playing my best and I scored what I deserved."
His role model is Rory Mcilroy and he aspires to be successful like him one day. He dreams of achieving great heights by becoming one of the finest golfers in the world. Harshjeet says, "I like the way Mcilroy plays. This Irish player inspires me a lot and I have learnt many moves from his style of playing."
Apart from golf, he loves playing billiards to improve his concentration and enjoys PSP and watching television when he is not on the golf course. He is looking out to compete internationally and get training abroad, but only hindrance is expenses which is tremendous in this game.
