Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant for physical well-being and health. Essential or aromatherapy oils, the fragrant essence of a plant are the foundation of aromatherapy, which is based on the idea that the aromatic oils from plants have healing properties.
Today, this therapy is being used in a large number of ways for promoting well being. It is practiced by methods like inhalation where water with a few drops of essential oils is sprayed through a room or few drops of an essential oil can be placed on a handkerchief and inhaled. This, in fact is the safest way to try aromatherapy.
Another way where essential oils can be absorbed into the bloodstream is bubble baths and relaxing massages. Aroma therapists also use scented candles.
Stress, sadness, agitation, isolation, self esteem and many other problems are healed with this therapy. Aromatherapy not only gives relaxation to the entire body but also heals problems like pigmentation, wounds and prevents hair loss to a great extent.
