The Gurgaon Traffic Police (GTP) has demarcated Galleria Market area as a 'Red Zone' with no tolerance policy for wrong side vehicular movement and unlawful parking.
The authorities swung into action and took the decision that in this zone, there will be strictly no stopping, no parking and no encroachments to ensure free flow of traffic.
Traffic police has installed a display board showing that the area has been demarcated as a Red Zone, No Encroachment Zone, No Stopping, No Parking, and if traffic cops find any wrongly parked vehicle in this zone, it would be towed away.
On the other hand, Gurgaon Traffic Police has also posted on its Facebook page that commuters should insist that their drivers do not wait in this area, but drive around the square to find appropriate parking at any of the many parking lots in the market.
The action was urgently needed because parking lots in the area remained empty and drivers lined up their cars and bikes on the main stretch. Agitated shopkeepers wrote about the problems and met the officials.
"Traffic cops have been frequently issuing challans to the drivers who were found taking wrong turn. They were also lifting the wrongly parked vehicles from the main road. It was the biggest factor helped us in implementing the new change successfully There are half a dozen authorised parking lots near Galleria and people can park their cars and motorcycles to avoid any inconveniences to the road users," said DCP Traffic Bharti Arora.
Shopkeepers in the market as well as the customers are experiencing drastic improvements after traffic police made it compulsory to follow the rules. The road blocking has reduced and the drivers are following the one-way route as well.
