Heaps of garbage next to a school in Indiranagar is creating unhealthy atmosphere in the locality. The vacant land next to Kid Zee School in Double road is full of garbage. Due to the unkempt state, a mini jungle has come up there.
Vijaylakshmi, principal of the school, complained to BBMP about the issue several times but there has been no response to date. The owner of the site is not taking any responsibility either. The school principal tried calling up the owner but he does not reply and is not ready to come up with any solution.
The accumulation of waste in the area also attracts stray dogs, which is posing a threat to the young children. Parents who come to drop their children have to bear the unbearable stench from these garbage heaps. Students and people have spotted several rats also in the plot.
Not only Kid Zee School, another school, Cauvery School, is also facing similar problems. The ground opposite to it is used as dumping ground for garbage.
For several months, people are trying to contact the land owner and BBMP but neither is paying any attention to it. Even after complaint letters, there is no action by BBMP.
"We talked to the owner but he is not ready to do anything, he stays in Bangalore but not ready to sell or make boundary wall on the site," the BBMP told the school principals.
Both the schools are worried and want an immediate solution to this problem before monsoon sets in.
