A UNIQUE GARDEN WITH BARA BALUTEDAR SYSTEM
Pt Jitendra Abhisheki Garden in Karvenagar is still waiting for the inauguration almost one year after its completion. Pune Municipal Corporation had recently assured that the garden would be inaugurated in June this year. Despite this promise, the garden which showcases Bara Balutedar, an ancient worker system of society, eagerly awaits visitors.
Explaining the uniqueness of this garden, local corporator Ujwal Keskar said, "I have made a budgetary allocation of Rs. 50 lakh to set up a museum to showcase the medals and certificates awarded to Pt Abhisheki. Also this is theme-based garden which will display the Bara Balutedari system of our society. Children will get information about our society and also know the importance of every element of our society. We do not understand why this unique garden is waiting for right time for inauguration."
"Spread over four acres, Pt Abhisheki Garden is now ready with all its attractions," said Yuvraj Deshmukh, executive engineer of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), adding, "There are stalls, which displays Bara Balutedar system of medieval Maharashtra. The stalls have statues of a carpenter, a blacksmith, a farmer and others. The motive behind this theme is to educate people about the evolution of our society. All political and judicial hurdles regarding this garden space, has been cleared and we got the possession of space in Survey No. 7. We have offered Transferable Development Rights (TDR) to the owner of the land for the space in Survey No. 8. In fact all this procedure is going on. Within a month, it will complete and the garden will be inaugurated."
Expressing anger about the PMC administration, Satish Phulpagar, a senior citizen of the Karvenagar, said, "I live in a nearby society. We are waiting to open this garden for everyone. The garden work has been completed for one year. We don't know why PMC is not inaugurating it formally. At least PMC should allow people to use jogging track, which is complete and usable."
"I always see the locked gate of this garden. The lush green grass calls us but we don't know why this garden is not open to all," said Tanish, a 6th std student of nearby society.
