The gold gym road which connects Kalyani Nagar and Koregaon Park is proving to be accident prone road.
Koregoan Park is one of the rapidly growing areas of the city. But with its growth, is growing the risk of accidents. This is evident with the gold gym road that connects Kalyani Nagar and Koregoan Park, which has low height dividers and overgrown trees. The other side of the road is not clearly visible because of these overgrown trees. The daily commuters have to take a risky ride on this road, especially the two wheelers who have to be very careful while taking a u-turn. The height of the divider is low and the overgrown trees covering the other side of the road mar visibility and pose a risk to commuters.
The four wheelers on this road move at a high speed as there is not a single speed breaker on the whole belt. The road being on the back side of the Kalyani Nagar is not used by a large number of people but by the residents of the Kalyani Nagar and the employees of HSBC bank.
Some of the daily commuters spoke to Cityplus; Ravi Jagdale says, "I take this road every day in the afternoon while going for work in my car. The two wheelers cross the road over the divider to save petrol. Very few two wheelers take the effort to go till the gap between the dividers."
SanjanaRathi says, "The two wheelers are not seen because of the over grown tress and they cross the road over the divider. They should try and follow some rules. Just because the road does not have heavy traffic does not necessarily imply that traffic rules can be flouted."
Vishal Gangale says, "I traverse this road everyday on my bike. Even if we use the gap which is meant for crossing, the vehicle coming from the other side is still not visible. The trees are overgrown and not cut sufficiently to ensure visibility. Also the dividers are so low that even a cycle can be driven easily across
the divider." Commenting on this issue, Traffic PI Sachin Adsul said, "The cutting of the trees is to be done by the garden department but as of now, all the officers are on the election duties and are not available. Talking about the dividers, the application has been sent and very soon we will get the work done."
