Florescent Light Reflectors installed on the accident prone Bowenpally - Tadbund road

Following the surge in traffic accidents on the Bowenpally - Tadbund road in the recent days, the authorities have installed caution signals on the side of this curving stretch over a nala, for minimizing accidents.
Officials from police and Secunderabad Cantonment Board had recently inspected the site after numerous fatal accidents took place here. With no other option for solving the problem, they have now come up with an idea of installing florescent light reflectors on poles kept on the side of the road.
According to authorities, these small poles with florescent reflectors will help the motorists identify the narrow curve on the road.    Most of the fatal accidents have taken place during the night, when motorists were unable to see the curve due to poor lighting and met with an accident.
This road linking Kukatpally to Secunderabad,  has seen numerous fatal accidents in the last 45 days at this very curve. The area which comes under Secunderabad Cantonment Board has no commercial establishments on this stretch and so vehicles don't halt here. This is one of the reasons that motorists taking this route tend to drive at high speeds, which sometimes endangers their life.
According to reports, there were three deaths at the same spot after three youth dashed themselves against the narrow edge of the wall over the nala on January 1. Recently two more youngsters fell into the nala and died. And few days ago a truck, which lost control, killed two more youngsters.
Officials are also pondering ways to curb the speed on this stretch and there is also a proposal for putting speed breakers at the spot. This would control the vehicles from bumping into the culverts of the nala on both sides, preventing fatalities.
