Troubled with shortage of LPG cylinder? You are not alone, most of the residents of Gurgaon, are going through the same problem.

Residents have to wait for more than a month time for getting a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder refilled in Gurgaon and Sohna Road. Some residents claim that the shortage is due to winters while some allege that gas agencies give cylinders to restaurants, hotels, etc., instead of them for more profit.
An official of a gas agency on condition of anonymity said, "The crisis has occurred due to mushrooming of eating joints and restaurants in Gurgaon. These restaurant owners pay more money to gas agencies for cylinders than domestic users."
Manushi Jain, a housewife and resident of Sushant Lok, Phase-1, has been facing this problem for a few weeks.  More than two dozen agencies are supplying LPG cylinders in Gurgaon but the situation is same at all the agencies. The officials attribute shortage to the short supply of gas cylinders. Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum company officials say that the consumers have to wait for at least 10 to 15 days for a cylinder.
There are more than five lakh LPG domestic gas cylinder consumers in Gurgaon. Vinay Malhotra, a resident of Palam Vihar said, "I have to wait for a month to get a gas cylinder refilled. Authorities should do something to solve this problem." Some residents claim that Piped Natural Gas (PNG) can ease the situation.
Another employee of a local gas agency said that the crisis can ease if LPG cylinders of different colours are provided in the city like Delhi where blue colour gas cylinders are provided to the commercial users and red to household users. This will ensure that residents get ample amount of gas cylinders.
Indian Oil Corporation official in-charge of distribution (Gurgaon) Virender Yadav said, "The LPG crisis should not be there as the supply is sufficient but it is happening due to the black marketing by the suppliers and the persons who deliver the cylinders. These people to my knowledge are selling the cylinders in black market at a higher price. We periodically keep a check on the agency’s stock and in the past, we have also caught many agencies involved in illegal selling of cylinders but these people still do not learn and continue to indulge in this dirty business."
