Nine-year-old Amisha Vats' mind games in chess have got her the title 'Little Mind Master' from Gurgaon. With a total of 14 gold medals and four silver medals won in seven tournaments, this young chess prodigy has miles to go.
Last month, she participated in the National sub-junior chess championship held at Panchkula and bagged gold medals. Earlier, she had won district chess tournament in Karnal and state chess tournament in Delhi and Chandigarh.
"I love playing chess. I enjoy the moves and mind games in the game," she shares.
Right now she is preparing for the upcoming national level chess competition to be held in Delhi and practising three to four hours daily. "We have made her join chess classes and once she is back from school and at school also he is focusing on her game," says Vipin Kumar, her father.
Her mother Kusum added, "She manages both studies and chess together. It is not difficult as she practises and studies daily. I still remember when she had not even started walking, I had taken her to a shop to buy some stuff and she picked a small pack of chess game and for few months she used to sit and play with them. She was aware about colours and used to keep black on black block and cream on its shade, I was astonished that time but since then she has never looked back."
Her brilliance shows from the fact that she is an outstanding student and all rounder in school too. A student of class four of Ryan International School, Sector 40, she has impressed her teachers with her brilliance.  Her class teacher Pratima Jagtabh says, "She is a focused child and gives 100 per cent to whatever she does."
"I would like to thank all my parents, teachers, friends and my coach Kamal Yadav who have all helped me become what I am," says Amisha.
Her favourite player is Vishwanath Anand and it's her dream to meet him and play some moves with him. "I will be lucky to learn few moves from him," she signs off.
