Believed to be a key shopping area of the city, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) Market of Sector-28 has no public convenience, causing great discomfort to shoppers and shopkeepers alike. Despite the presence of a urinal at the rear end of the sector, it is not being handed over to the Market Association. Dhanesh Kumar Mangla, president of the Market Association said, "The urinal has been made at a very far end, we cannot leave our shop and go there. Instead of that we have a park which is of no use and the public toilet can be constructed there."
People use the rear wall of shops and houses to relieve themselves for nature's calls due to which the area has started stinking. "I urge the HUDA management to at least build separate entry public lavatories for gents and ladies in such market areas. Sulabh Sauchalays should be made," added Ravi Vaidiswaran, a resident of Sector 28.
Anil Makkan, executive engineer of HUDA said, "We have asked the market association to use and maintain the already constructed lavatory in the area. But they want a new one which will take time. "
