Candidates from Prabhag 36 reveal their agenda at a programme organised by Dainik Jagran Cityplus, recently.

Conservation of green cover, no construction in BDP (Bio Diversity Park) and separation of garbage at source are the main points of election agenda in Deccan and other areas. These green agendas of candidates of Ward Number 36 were made public recently at the programme ‘Know your candidates’ organised by Cityplus, in association with the Deccan Gymkhana Parisar Samiti.
The programme was arranged for people to know the candidates contesting from Ward No 36, also called Deccan Gymkhana. In the programme, various questions regarding the problems of the area were asked to the candidates, so that candidates’ views on problems can be understood and decision of voting can be taken accordingly.
While introducing to the programme, Cityplus reporter said, “Less voting percentage is a major problem today and not knowing much about the candidates is one of the major reasons of it. This programme will help the voters to know the candidates better and their decision about the voting will be easy, thereby increasing the voting percentage.”

Garbage

When a question on the ever-growing garbage problem was raised, segregation of the garbage at source was the only answer that came from all the candidates. “Land field site at Uruli Devachi is a major problem. Proper segregation at source and proper waste management will be my focus area,” said Amey Jagtap, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate.
While sharing his views on the issue, Anil Rane, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidate said, “I have planned to coordinate with societies on the garbage problem. The garbage problem from the society can be solved at the society level.”

Environment

“Joggers track is another good initiative and I would like to come up with such projects, which can help prevent the green cover. Amey and me are working for green cover on hill top and hill slope.
And if get elected, we have planned to work more for this,” Sumedha Bhosale, NCP candidate said.
Rajendra Sathe, who was representing his wife Kamal Sathe, said, “We are active in saving the hill and we were insisting to have greenery in the premises of any construction done on hill slopes.”
Apart from this, issues like encroachment, traffic, transportation were discussed in programme. The programme ended with an oath taking ceremony, against corruption.
