The Red Bull Paper Wings contest was held in the city on February 10 where Red Bull gave the city college students a chance to win some fame and a trip to Austria by becoming the National Paper Plane Champion. This is a worldwide paper plane designing and flying contest, which is now in its third edition this year.
The contest aims at engaging students to think of innovative ways of folding paper and designing an aerodynamically capable plane. The hobby engineers have the challenge of using an A4 sheet of paper of 100gsm density, a pair of scissors and some glue at their disposal.
In the event, the participants were judged across three categories- Longest Distance, Maximum Flight Time and Aerobatic Flight. Deep Ajmera from Symbiosis College of Management Studies emerged as a clear winner in all the three categories.
The event was judged by Sandeep Bajare, General Secretary of the Pune Aeromodellers Association.
He said, "It was really nice to see such creativity from these kids and was also amazed by the innovation and hard-work put in by the participants."
