Encroachments in Old Rajinder Nagar and Gangaram road have become a part and parcel of the area.
Fed up with the issue, encroachment especially by the various car accessory shops has been creating problems for a few months.
Traffic chaos has become common as the MCD rarely carries out any drive to solve this problem. "One can see a queue of cars encroaching the road space, which is the main reason for traffic jams. Some miscreants are also creating problems for everybody but no one wants to take any action," said Manish Manchanda, who stays in old Rajinder Nagar.
"It is deplorable that lanes and roads of the colony are being encroached by people to serve their own purpose. We can see cars parked in two to three rows, leaving very little space for commuters," said Rajani Lamba, another resident.
"Somebody has to raise voice against this menace. We have tried our hands at everything but we have failed. From Delhi Traffic Police to Delhi Police, all have been informed but nothing is being done," said Rashmi Sahni, another resident.
Corporator Moolchand Chawla said, "This is a very old issue and the cars stand on the footpath. I can't get these shops removed but I will make sure that they do not carry out their activities on roads."
