Residents of Nirvana are paying power back-up charge as high as Rs 31 per unit. This extra charge has been putting an extra burden on the pockets of the residents. In the same period, the same developer has been billing South City II residents at Rs 11.23 per unit. The South City II is just a few meters away from Nirvana.
As power supply is quite rampant in Sohna Road townships, the developers have provided power back-up facilities. The price, which the Nirvana developer is charging from the residents, is the highest in whole Gurgaon.
The NRWA has objected to this erroneous billing by the developer many a time. And rather than addressing this issue, now the developer has threatened to disconnect power back-up if these bills are not cleared soon. NRWA president Sanukaplia said, "The power back-up charge levied by the developer is exorbitant. Last year also, the developer had done excess billings of power back-up of over Rs 17 lakh. And took over nine months to admit their mistake and then had to reduce this excess billing (Rs 17 lakh). And this is a regular practice of the developer to raise inflated bills in order to extract money from residents."
Nirvana township in-charge and manager Anil Jaysingh said, "It is totally false that we are charging Rs 31 per unit for power back-up. We have been transparent to the NRWA people and the residents all the time. As for the power back-up charges, the maintenance cost keeps varying from month to month but the charge has never reached Rs 31 per unit. Lately for around five times, we had got some repairs done but we have never charged the residents more than Rs 13 per unit."
