Friends Society Residents Welfare Association members carried out a protest recently.

The office-bearers of Vasundhra Sector 12 located Friends Society Residents Welfare Association carried out a protest against the working of society's managing committee on February 12. The RWA accused the managing committee of obtaining an approval to rent the land for community hall of the society without calling Annual General Meeting (AGM) and informing the members of the RWA.
In 2003, Friends Cooperative Group allotted plots to the developers. During the allotment, three plots were left vacant for making a community hall, school and shopping complex. For the development of the society, managing committee was brought into existence after a proper election. In 2010, the elected managing committee rented the land for community hall for making a banquet hall without discussing it in the AGM. As soon as the RWA realised about this deed of managing committee, it protested.
According to the president of Friends Society Residents Welfare Society, PC Gaur, the managing committee didn't organise the AGM which was scheduled to be held in November 2011. However, the office-bearers of the committee mentioned the AGM on the papers and approved to rent the plot for constructing a banquet hall. "Nobody has the right to lease the land as per his or her whims and fancies. There is a procedure for everything and that has to be followed. We will protest till this act is not stopped and everything is not done properly," said one of the protesters.
However, Rakesh Gupta, who has been rented the plot said, "We have fulfilled all the formalities and then only, we have got the land on rent."
