The coveted Rainy Well scheme for providing clean potable water to the residents of Sector 19 is facing glitches just because of lack of proper electricity supply.

The Resident Welfare Association (RWA) and the Senior Citizen Forum had left no stone unturned to pursue the authorities concerned to implement the scheme on a priority basis so that they could overcome the water woes prevalent in the sector. But the residents have become a worried lot as the authorities have still not completed the formalities for the smooth functioning of this scheme.
The residents are demanding separate transformers to check that all the six motors installed for the generation of the water work properly. Earlier, a generator was being used to pump water but as the expenditure involved in running it was exorbitant, a temporary electricity connection has been installed which is not enough to weed out the problem.
With this temporary arrangement, out of six motors only four are being utilised to boost pumping of water which is creating water problems in several pockets of the sector. The residents living from house nos. 800 to 900 are facing the problem of low pressure due to the improper functioning of the boosters. SM Katyal, a resident of House no. 973 said, "We have complained about the low pressure of water due to the improper working of the rainy well but to no avail."
JM Sharma, general secretary of Varishtha Nagrik Sewa Manch said, "We thought that after the installation of the rainy well water augmentation scheme, all our water related troubles would be solved. But the current condition of the boosters due to improper supply of electricity is irritating. We urge the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHVBN) to come together so that this highly ambitious scheme provides us some relief."
Meanwhile, the MCF officials have claimed that they have deposited the security money of Rs 1,80,000 to the DHVBN for the installation of the 62KV transformer to solve the existing problem. "We have completed the formalities with the DHVBN and transformers will be installed soon," said Ramesh Bansal, executive engineer MCF.
