Breaking a rule can be hazardous anywhere but not in IP Extension as it has become a regular feature here.

Be it skipping of traffic signal, improper parking or over speeding and reckless driving, everything happens in this area. Out of 8149 cases of traffic violations reported in East Delhi in three months, about 1629 cases have been reported in IP Extension.
"Nobody follows rules in this area which creates numerous problems. It should be stopped as soon as possible. As police is occasionally seen in the area, number of accidents is also rising. Pedestrians like kids and senior citizens are the worst sufferers," said Geeta Mehra, a resident of Agrasen Apartments.
Two red lights near Mandawali police station, one opposite Mangla Hospital and one near Madhu Vihar market are the troubled areas.
Violation of rules is common near Milan Vihar, Madhu Vihar, Agrasen and Himalaya Apartments.
All this results in chaos and many a time, situation goes out of hand and leads to quarrels and intense fights. Many youngsters also ride bikes or scooters at high speed.
M N Bhattacharya, a resident of Prince Apartments said, "Police should increase patrolling as situation is deteriorating day by day in the area. We have also written several letters to the traffic department in this regard but to no avail. They should also install CCTV cameras which can help in keeping an eye in the area."
"Most of the people who break rules are educated. Police should organise some traffic rules' awareness campaigns to make everyone realise the importance of traffic rules," said Karan Thapar, another resident.
Traffic inspector Ratan Lal said, "Maximum skipping of red light happens near Mandawali police station and Madhu Vihar market. We also challan the violators."
