Aditi Kanchi hopes to bring peace to people in the city through music
There are many talented people in our country but very few think about spreading their knowledge. Here’s a girl who has that dream along with a zeal to spread love and peace among the restless city bugs. Twenty-year-old Aditi Kanchi from Thane plays the drum, guitar, piano and violin with ease and perfection. She also seeks to spread her knowledge along with some goodwill. Aditi talks about her passion and dreams to Cityplus.
Music in my soul
I was interested in music since I was just five years old. My mother tells me that I would start drummimg any container or vessel. That was when my mom though of giving me a tambourine for my birthday. When I saw it, I was ecstatic. That day onwards, my parents have always gifted me musical instruments on my birthday.
Even in school, I always wanted to participate in the co-curricular activities or music competitions rather than concentrating on my studies. I even used to bunk classes for my passion and love for the music. I was a member of school band at Hiranandani Foundation School and played almost all the instruments that I was asked to. I won several prizes in interschool music competitions. Music has made my childhood memorable.
Mastering the art
I loved playing music but I never thought that I could master three to four instruments. This has been possible only with the efforts of my guru. He is a pro at playing several instruments and he instilled hope and faith in me. He knew that I have the potential to play many instruments. Under his guidance, today I play the violin, guitar, piano and drum with ease. I owe all my success to God, my guru and my parents.
My passion and dedication is not the only thing that has made me who I am. I am also grateful to my loving parents who have supported me both emotionally and financially.
Obstacles on the way
Studying music has not been as tough as convincing people that I am doing a masters in music and making it a full time career. Even today, people expect others to opt more conventional careers. Someone who has a different dream is looked at in a strange way. My relatives and friends tried convincing me to pursue MBA or something similar, but I was always sure of what I wanted to do so that never affected me. My parents also always pushed me to do what I want and not what others expect of me.
My aspirations
I have successfully appeared at the Trinity Guildhall Examinations conducted by Trinity College of London in all these streams and have reached good levels.
Presently, I run music classes where anyone interested in music and come and learn. Age is no bar. I have students from class three as well as software professionals and MDs of companies. The professionals practise music to cope with stress while students take it as an opportunity to learn.
Music soothes the soul. My dream is to make a music brand of my own and open music schools across Mumbai. I believe that music canbring peace and love.
