'Clean the society' is the new slogan in town.
Ever thought of cleaning your surroundings? If yes, then join a group of residents of Noida, who have taken up the noble initiative of cleaning the streets in several sectors of the city to make it beautiful.
This group of residents comprising almost 30 members from various sectors of Noida meet thrice a week early in the morning and select a particular sector for cleaning.
"We start at 7 in the morning and work till 10 am. We roam around in the entire sector and collect garbage and waste that lies on the streets. We also clean the parks of the sector and create awareness about our initiative to seek residents' contribution," said Punit Raj Singh, a resident of Sector 16.
"Garbage has become a major problem in Noida. Everybody talks about it but nobody does anything to solve it. We took the step and now it is a collective effort. More people are joining the initiative day by day," added Punit.
Recently, all members of the group visited Sector 33 and cleaned the entire sector including its park. "Kids generally throw wrappers and empty bottles in the park. Many residents don't even know about the placements of the dustbins in the park which is a cause of concern," said Manish Tripathi, another member of the group who stays in Sector 41.
The group has already cleaned Sector 28, 29 and 37. Gaurav Singh, another member of this group added, "Everyone wants their own house to be clean but nobody is bothered about cleanliness of their surroundings. If we all come together and ensure that we take part in keeping our colony clean, I am sure there will be no garbage on roads and parks."
The members not only clean the areas, they also educate the residents about importance of cleanliness.
"I think this problem will be solved only when we educate ourselves and others too about the importance of cleanliness in the society," added Gaurav.
