Two constables were deployed outside Ghatkopar station after Cityplus spoke to the authorities about the traffic congestion

Last week, two traffic constables were stationed outside Ghatkopar railway station to man the area. This was done immediately after Cityplus spoke to the authorities about the traffic chaos and absence of traffic cop.
Residents as well as rickshaw unions regularly complained about the traffic outside Ghatkopar station (W). Pedestrians alleged that they encountered difficulty while passing through the lane. "During peak hours, commuters wait in a queue for rickshaw near the bus stop. The lane gets congested due to continuous flow of traffic. The presence of traffic police will keep the traffic in moving condition," says Renuka Rathod, Ghatkopar resident.
"The traffic is bad during peak hours.
The presence of traffic officials during peak hours will ease the traffic in the area," says Rajendra Desai, general secretary, Maharashtra Rickshaw Chalak Sangh.
A senior official from Ghatkopar (W) traffic police says, "On receiving a complaint, we deployed two constables outside Ghatkopar station within two days constables.
“They will monitor the area mostly during peak hours and ease the traffic congestion. I will also keep inspecting the area."
