A lively, cheerful and wonderful soul, meeting him is an experience altogether. Interesting in his own sense, the young author Ahmed Faiyaz is a man full of narrations. 30 years young, illuminating the world in his own way, Faiyaz has won quite a good applause from people all over the world by his commendable work of fiction.
Presently, Faiyaz works as an advisor with the Dubai Health Authority in a strategy and planning role. He is a chartered accountant as well and also involves himself in writing quite often side by side apart from being an avid reader himself. He is also managing director of Greyoak Publishers, a publishing house.
"For as long as I can remember I've always wanted to write. I guess the journey begins from reading books at an early age. I have been a voracious reader as a child. I began by reading comics like Tintin and Asterix while also devouring the weekly dose of Tinkle, Archie and Superhero comics," he says.

His journey
His journey in the field of writing started when he developed his love for books and reading at an early age. His parents indulged him in the habit of reading and made him a 'good intellectual boy'.
"My mother brought me books which she believed I should read from her school's library. I would finish reading my English literature textbook on the day when all textbooks were given out, a week prior to the start of a school year. After finishing them, I would go and borrow my cousin Ibrahim's (three years older in the same school) textbook and finish them too. Often my brother and I went over to our cousin's home to play or watch animated films. I remember spending most of my time in front of her bookshelf, taking out one book after another and finishing them from beginning to end," said Faiyaz.

A versatile writer
Ahmed is a fiction writer and has two books to his credit that are primarily focused on relationships of people of 20s in Urban India. He says, "But I've written a number of stories which are humorous, nostalgic or have a supernatural element. My next is a slice of life satire about a publishing firm. I plan to write a thriller soon."
When the love for writing emerges, no one can stop a writer. In spite of his busy schedule, he devotes his time to writing. "I tend to write during any free time I get. I work for fixed hours so I'm able to devote an hour or two during weekdays and also some time on weekends. Generally, a first draft takes 3-6 months to complete," he adds.

Next book for mom
"I am yet to dedicate a book to my mother, so I would dedicate my next book, Bestseller, to her. She is the person who's supported me the most and helped me take those baby steps towards living the life that I wanted to," he says.

Tips for aspiring authors
"All I would say is write if it's something you're passionate about and not because someone else does and they're successful at it. I would like to add that as a writer, one has to keep it honest and understand his/her audience," Faiyaz adds.
