While I was waiting for a meeting with members of the rock band Yathaarth at a coffee shop, a group of about six youngsters walked up to me and said, "Hi, we are from Yathaarth..!!".
I was awestruck and took a minute to realise that these teenagers are the band members who are creating ripples in the city. All the members are in their twenties. All are passionate about music and three of the members are also pursuing BA in music.

Passion binds them
When I met them next at their practice room, they were in a different look altogether. All ready with their instruments, they started jam session with Mitwa from Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna which lasted for an hour. All types of songs right from fusion to rock were played.

Some of these youngsters are neighbours while others are students at a coaching centre. Gargie Verma, the female lead vocalist, is a music teacher in a primary school. She believes passion for music binds them together.
Tabla player Mohan Sharma said, "I used to play with a couple of bands earlier but that was just to keep playing tabla professionally. But now, I have a band of my own."
Sherry on the keyboard and Noshan, the lead guitarist, have been together since quite a lot of time now. They joined the band together after they came to know that they were all of the same age and loved music.
On one hand, while most of the musicians are the only ones in their families to have taken up this profession, the rhythm guitarist in the group, John Rozario, is a musician by inheritance. John's grandfather was a master in piano.

They think music
Ankur Gupta, the lead vocalist said, "I have been singing for a long time. I always thought of having my own band. Every time I tried to get into a band, I found that the thought process was too commercial. But this is a band where all of us think of just two things, band and music."
The rhythmist and drummer in the group, Ronald Messih, says it has been his pleasure to be a part of the band.

Live performances
The band has given live performances on many channels like P7, GNL and others. They have also played from social functions and restaurants.
They recorded their first-ever song in October this year. They are planning to come out with an album as the band is registered. "We are planning to release one song at a time on the internet and see the response. After that, gradually, we will come out with the rest of the songs."
Their only aim they have is to reserve a place for themselves in the map of Indian rock music.
